I am a 28-year-old Indian girl living in London getting married to a Punjabi boy in Mumbai. My wedding is planned for Jan 2004. I would like you to give me suggestions on guest hospitality as I have 50 guests coming along with me from London.
Dear Vanita,
Guest Hospitality as such is relatively new concept in wedding co-ordination. It entails the following:
- Organising Airport pick-ups and drop-offs for wedding guests.
- Settling them at the designated Hotels.
- Welcome letters and gifts in all their rooms.
- Providing transport for their shopping, sight-seeing trips etc.
- Arranging an escort for their shopping, sight-seeing etc.
- Arrange a co-ordinator to inform the guests of the daily ceremonies and functions.
- Transporting wedding guests from the hotel to the venue of the function.
- Co-ordinating with hotel kitchen for any special menus for the guests.
Apart from the above, guest hospitality would also entail providing assistance in handling airline ticket changes, reservations, train tickets etc.
Also, services like arranging baby sitters, entertainment for children, etc can be included. All this ensures that your guests have a good time and are completely at ease during the entire wedding celebrations.
All the above can be planned in detail much before you actually reach India. This will not only make your guests comfortable but you too will be at ease and will be able to devote all your attention to other details.
