Green Weddings Part 4
Decor And Transportation
|
Eco-friendly Wedding Transportation
Probably, the most eco-friendly way of arriving at weddings is on foot or bicycles! But can you realistically expect an Indian bride or groom cycling their way to the wedding venue?
Seriously though, to save fuel, transportation costs and commuting time provide your guests with a map of the wedding venue including various public transportation options. Arranging for car pools for guests is also a good idea. Avoid wedding processions and long-winded baraats as they may lead to traffic snarls.
Anand says, "If the wedding is held in a rural area arriving on horseback, elephant, camel or bullock carts is a good option as they are ethnic modes of transportation. If the same thing is however done in a city it may be traumatic to the animals and cause traffic congestions."
Also, another option is to keep the wedding venue close to your residence so that it minimizes the transportation involved all-round.
Once you decide to have a green wedding the idea is to incorporate as many green ideas as you possibly can. You don't have to do them all - even just 2 or 3 is a great way to begin!
