The Bride's Gift - The Right Choice For The Wedding Night
Gift ideas for your wedding night.
With all the wedding expenses happening you may have thought that you were finally done coughing up the dough, but tradition dictates that you buy your blushing bride one last gift - the wedding night gift. It's not absolutely required, but well... you're going to be the beneficiary of a whole lot of gratitude.
Of course, how grateful she is will depend entirely on how much thought you put into the gift. Get the wrong one and you might just find yourself on your ownsome lonesome. Here are some gift ideas that will ensure a great start to your marriage.
JEWELLERY
- Go classic. When Monroe said, "Diamonds are a girl's best friend," she knew what she was talking about. Big or small, solitaire or a cluster, earrings, pendant or a ring - you can't go wrong with diamonds. Depending on your budget you can pick earrings or a ring or even a tiny pendant. A bracelet is a great option too but slightly more expensive. If you can afford a necklace with matching earrings - you're all set for the big night!
- Get it engraved. Women love personalized gifts. It shows them you care enough to make an effort. A ring, I.D. bracelet, or locket can easily be engraved. Make sure the message is cryptic enough so that it's something only the two of you share.
- Charm her silly with a charm bracelet stocked with handpicked charms. Start with your first date: If you went on a picnic, get a golden picnic basket; if you met in Goa, find a little gold palm tree. Another option is an oval-link gold charm bracelet: Over time, you can add a charm for each trip, birthday, holiday, or other milestone you share.
- Stuff a locket with a photo of you at age three, a photo of the two of you together, a lock of your hair, or a love note. She'll love this.
- If you have not already presented her with a mangalsutra, now is a great time to do so. It will show her that you value the commitment you have made and strengthen the bond between the two of you.
- If there's an heirloom piece in your family (i.e., your grandmother's gold kadas), now's the time to give it to her!
THE ART OF LOVE
- If she's coveted a certain oil painting, photograph, or other art piece for a long time, it's charmingly symbolic of you to buy it for her.
- You could get a portrait of the two of you done. If she likes things simple, try a pencil sketch. For something more flamboyant you could go for an oil painting. Make sure you choose a good photo to copy.
- You needn't spend a bundle on her gift: A book of poems with a sincere love note written on the title page can be a more meaningful gift than any expensive trinket. You could also go for a book of Shayari by Ghalib - the original love poet!
MORE LOVE STUFF
- A watch would be fantastic. An expensive, classy designer watch will set the right time.
- Lingerie is perfect for the sensuous mood you want to create but remember that it's not something she can keep forever as a memoir.
Whatever you choose to buy give it to her in private, she may want to cherish the moment or if you're lucky... thank you for it!
