How to plan a good honeymoon
This is the best part
This is one area of the whole wedding process you have been ready and waiting for, ever since you knew the meaning of the word Honeymoon. You started dreaming of your honeymoon as a giddy-headed and giggly teenager and its finally here. Throw all logic, inhibitions and yourself to the winds and ENJOY in capital letters!!
You appreciated all the rituals, went round the fire, made the vows, and smiled through endless queues of people you barely knew. You feel as if your wedding took forever but yet was over before you knew it. Long shopping jaunts, painful fitting and trial sessions; all those are behind you now. The time to enjoy - your honeymoon is here. But a good honeymoon doesn't just happen. You need to plan well ahead, plan well and you will be able to thoroughly enjoy, what is in fact, the best part of getting married.
His and Hers
You may have dreamt of the mountains in Kashmir but he may want to wake up to the sound of waves in Goa or Mauritius. You need to find a balance between his dream honeymoon and yours. Also consider the weather at your destination - you may like the place, but you may not like its snow or rain or heat, as the case may be. The mountains, the cold winds, the heights may inspire the poet in you and the sinus in him - Think carefully.
Even if you both love the heights you may still have a little difficulty coming to a consensus. The mountains in Kashmir or the Alps. The hill stations of Mount Abu or Ooty; Dalhousie or Kulu Manali. So many places - just one honeymoon.
Money wise
You don't need to chuck aside your dreams due to budget constraints. So what if you dream of going to the Eiffel Tower, but do not have the moolah to support that? Although monetary constraints are a critical deciding factor, there are ways to get around it. There are special honeymoon packages designed to suit various pockets. You will need a good travel operator to help you out. Then it would not be an impossible task to strike the correct balance between dreams and practicality. However, with an extravagant budget, you could even go for an intergalactic expedition. (In a few years, at least to the moon).
Time Travel
Time is of the essence. If you have an unromantic boss who doesn't grant you enough leave, you need to go to a destination, which won't take too long to reach - Stay close to home base.
For those in the North - Manali, set against the backdrop of snow-capped mountain ranges, you could take an excursion to the hot sulphur springs, visit temples, lakes and go trekking or even paragliding. Nainital, a beautiful hill resort where you could just soak in the quiet ambience and explore the tiny villages like the Almora, Ranikhet and the famous Jim Corbett National Park. For those in the South - The backwaters of Kerala beckon. Kodiakanal and Ooty with their pleasant climate and multitudes of flowers could be your dream come true. If you have a week - head for exotic Nepal- the land of pagodas and monasteries or you could consider the islands of Lakshwadeep or say Mauritius. Europe, the US or any other foreign lands are great for longer breaks.
Take a walk on the wild side - Why not! A lot of couples these days seem to be willing to rough it up in the wilds, in harmony with the elements. If you like the sound of that and the roar of a lion, you could stop over at the Jim Corbett National Park or take the elephant safari in Kerala or Karnataka. If you are one of those who have dreamt of exploring the jungles of Africa, this is a fantastic time to enjoy the famous Kenyan safari.
Honeymoon Trends
There seems to be an affinity towards a certain place every decade. In the days when blockbuster movies like "Kashmir Ki Kali" captured the imagination of Indian audiences, honeymooning on a shikara in Kashmir became hip and every married couple longed to go there.
Then came the era of blue seas and the open skies - the beaches of Goa and Mauritius. The Hindi movies lately have become the greatest publicity generators for various foreign locations. It's a big world out there - With a little imagination you could be the one to start the next big trend!
Just remember - You are beginning a new life. Make the most of it FOREVER!!
