In contrast, Dilip bought his wife Anita an expensive platinum chain with a diamond pendant. It was pretty, but Anita didn't give it a look, forget about wearing it beyond Valentine's Day. Dilip couldn't figure out where he'd gone wrong. In truth, Anita knew Dilip had just walked into a store and picked the first expensive piece of jewellery he saw, with scant regard to her likes and dislikes, and the practicality of wearing the piece on a day-to-day basis.

Fact is - when you buy a gift for your woman, you're not shopping for an object, but for sentiment. Gifts that speak of your thoughtfulness and effort to buy or make them are the ones women relate to, and treasure for years to come.
These needn't be expensive, like Dilip's jewellery purchase, but must touch her heart. That's why it makes sense to think and buy or make your gift in advance. Last minute dashes into the nearest mall will only result in panic buying, that frankly, women get the wind of and don't appreciate!
