Romance stands the test of time!
|
Times have changed, but the ways to express love have not. Even today people salute the monument of love that stands erect. In today's materialistic world love wins the race! And the people who voted for The Taj have proved this.
Much hullabaloo surrounded the unveiling of the New 7 wonders of the world. And if you're a true 'Hindustani' chances are you even voted for our very own wonder - The Taj Mahal.
Forget the commercialization of romance for a bit. Forget soppy love stories and Mills n Boons type of hot-undying-soul-stirring-passionate love. Even suspend your cynical attitude for just a moment.
Think about this.
In today's crazy terrorism infested world where feelings of strife and conflict seem to plague everything, isn't it indeed inspiring to see that the Taj Mahal - a magnificent symbol of romance and love, has been voted as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World?
So what is about the Taj Mahal that brought it to this honor?
Well it could be...
Its brilliant architecture
The flawless design
Or could it be that thousands and millions of Indians voted for it?
Maybe.
But we like to believe that this is a sign that the world still believes in the power of love. The Taj Mahal is perhaps the only monument of its kind in the universe that has been built as a tribute to romance and love. And with such strong feelings being the foundation for the very existence of the Taj, it is no 'wonder' that it has stood the test of time and has been re-included in the Seven Wonders list.
At the end of the day, hope does spring eternal in the human breast. Despite protestations that love is not all about grand gestures and romance, it appears that everyone loves a lover and cheers to that! We've had enough war to last us several lifetimes over... perhaps this can herald the beginning of a more peaceful era.

History Of The Taj Mahal
