Get the right Valentine look
|
Wake up folks, it's that time of the year to express your latent love to your sweetheart. All you Romeos out there, go down on your knees, read out a poem, present a gift... and for bindaas Juliets, just sing a song or say it directly (Believe me, guys need to be told things in as straightforward way as possible. They just wont get anything else!) That's what a romantic date generally looks like, isn't it? But wait, when you look around, do you notice people looking at you and saying, "Buddy, this ain't Diwali, what have you worn?" or "Where have you come from? The 17th century?" All this only points out to just one thing - You don't have the right look for Valentine's Day!
Yes, friends, nowadays each and every occasion has an 'in' look, and if you are not in that look, you have committed a cardinal sin. But don't worry, help is at hand. ShaadiTimes gives you a lowdown on the trends for Valentine's Day, 2006.
Hues
It's time to keep away the bright and loud colours, and get the soft, subtle look. Red, is ofcourse the colour of Valentine's as it stands for love, but if you don't want to lose yourself in the sea of red, you can opt for white or soft pink. Moreover, purple is the colour that symbolises passion, so couples who are truly in love, can opt for purple or its shades like lavender and lilac. There is no gender specific colour for Valentine's. Pink is, infact, the colour in vogue for guys. Yellow is a big no-no, as it stands for friendship.
Fabrics and cuts
In fabrics, chiffon, georgette and satin are the ideal fabrics. Don't go for anything that is too stiff or rough. Silk is also a good option, especially for guys who can carry off a silk shirt. When it comes to cuts, flowy is the way to go for girls. Your dresses or gowns should have a flowy cut to carry off the Valentine's look with panache.
Designs
Prints are truly in fashion. And Valentine's is a great occasion to flaunt them. Asymmetrical prints and designs look really neat on both guys and girls. For guys, floral prints are the latest fad. Many a celebrity has been seen flaunting a floral - printed shirt.
Accessories
Coming to accessories, girls can make a style statement with red or pink coloured belts. Avoid white belts if you don't have a matching outfit to go with it. Armlets and head gears are also in vogue this Valentine's.
All in all, this Valentine, put up a soft appearance. As our designer says, "Wear the right look to get the right person this Valentine's"
