Another Year... Another Christmas... and A New Jingle To Celebrate Christmas With A Desi Touch!
"Christmas is coming... and the geese are getting fat... please put a penny in the old man's hat... " Remember this popular Christmas carol from school? Yup, it's that time of the year again... time for good cheer, Santa, gifts, laughter and making merry!
So are you all set? We are!!
There's no doubt that Christmas is the most popular annual festival on this planet. 'Merry Xmas' as listed on the website Christmas.com can easily be translated into at least 173 languages, some of which are Joyeux Noel , Felize Navizdad , and in India as "Shub Christu Jayanti "
This year ShaadiTimes caught up with some celebrities to find out what was the most poignant gift they ever received and in the process decided to make our own jingle from a traditional Christmas jingle... of course with a little Indian twist...!
Based on the poem, "The Twelve Days Of Christmas", which was later made into a Christmas song, and heralded as one of the most recognisable Christmas lyrics of the past century.
We received some surprising, funny, and poignant answers... Read on:
This is what our celebs had to say:
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me , "One Christmas Tree," says actor Aditya Pancholi. And that's a good answer!
The best gift he's received to date? He answers without hesitation; "The BMW my father gave me a few years back." The most poignant gift? "My daughter." A touching answer from a macho hero.
On the Second Day of Christmas my true love gave to me , "Two Wishes," says Tinnu Anand one of the more popular, contemporary character actors of the today and also a prolific filmmaker. His wife, an actress and also a talented designer Pushi Anand chimes in, "Our daughter Esha and Diksha. Thus we can say on the Second Day of Christmas my true love gave me, two gifts, in the form of our daughters."
The best gift Tinnu has received? "A gold and diamond studded Rolex watch from Amitabh Bachchan after the completion of Major Saab " he recalls. "The most poignant gift was receiving the news that my daughter was getting married," he says and "now the next best gift would be to hear that the second one is also getting married!" he adds laughing.
On the Third Day of X-mas my true love gave to me, "Three opera CD's", replies celebrity photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha who is a known opera aficionado.
The best gift he's received is a compliment by the Time Life photographer Jehangir Gazobr who told Adrian Steven (another popular photographer) that he thought, "I was one of the finest portraitists. This was in 1977-78 when it was just a weekend hobby for me, but it certainly gave me the courage to take it up seriously."
On the Fourth Day of X-mas my true love gave to me, "Four music CD's," laughs choreographer and dancing coach Sandip Soparrkar.
The best gift received by Sandip? "Definitely the gift of dance," he says, "and the most poignant is to help struggling dancers achieve their goals and dreams."
