It's Diwali and yet again you're in a tizzy. Choosing the right gift has never been a strong point so all you do is barge into the nearby store and pick up packets of chocolates. - Dates: It has natural sugar like glucose and fructose. It's a great laxative and can also help you get over a hangover too. Try it!
- Almonds: Almonds soaked in milk are great for instant energy because they are rich in vitamins. It also makes them easier to digest than plain cow's milk. Almonds have unsaturated fats that have medicinal value and are rich in iron, copper, phosphorus and vitamin B1. They help in the creation of new blood cells, haemoglobin and help in proper functioning of the brain, heart, nerves, bones and liver. - Dried figs: They contain about 60 milligrams of calcium, nearly twice as much as the same amount of low-fat cottage cheese. They also have numerous antioxidants and heart-protective omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
- Dried apricots: Rich in vitamin A.
- Dried plums (prunes): They are said to slow the progression of heart disease.
