With a blend of culture, shopping and natural beauty of its mountains and forests, Nepal offers a delightful holiday to honeymooners. We selected this place because it has something that interests both of us. I loved the mountains and the cultural riches while my husband enjoyed the shopping opportunities, luxurious resorts and casinoes.

There are ways to backpack your way from Calcutta to Nepal by road - An option you do not want to explore as honeymooners. Regular flights from metro cities get you to capital city Kathmandu, which is a good starting point.
Kathmandu is quite like India, in the sense that you cannot include all the tourist destinations in a single trip. So we did the Kathmandu - Pokhra - Chitvan triangle.
Kathmandu gives you the city, casino and shopping experience. You can select from a range of artifacts, handicrafts and, of course, western wear. At 1.6 Nepali rupee for every Indian one, the best part about shopping in Nepal is that the Indian rupee goes a longer way. Pokhra offers you the beauty of the Himalayas, up close and personal - a must see for honeymooners. Chitvan gives you an opportunity to enjoy the wild, evergreen forests of Nepal.
The reality is that Nepal is a developing country - more so than India. People are friendly but not very well-to do. So, go with an open mind.

Book your trip in advance and stick to the better known resorts.
The sight of the snow-capped Himalayan mountain range from our airplane is one that we can never forget.
A pure and pristine land that is like and unlike India, with a number of surprises at every corner, truly made our trip worth it.
