Honey-Moonstruck!!!

Romance is a state of mind and can be found in numerous situations as some couples found out during their honeymoons. Some had great fun, others shared an adventure and one couple even dodged danger... read on!

Risky Ride!

"I knew that marrying an Army officer would be exciting, but didn't imagine I'd get a taste of adventure so soon after marriage. We decided to honeymoon in Kashmir since Santanu was posted to Awantipura, near Srinagar. We covered the three-mile journey from Jammu to Awantipura along with an army convoy. I was quite lost in the breath taking scenery until we screeched to a halt. The troops jumped out, taking positions. Apparently, the convoy ahead of us had been shot at.

Honey-Moonstruck!!!Though there were a few close calls, no one was killed. At Srinagar, we changed vehicles and as the situation was even more dangerous here, Santanu and I were put in separate army trucks. I had a couple of machine gun toting commandos guarding me on either side. The journey finally ended at the Officer's Mess, when I was accorded a warm welcome. I awoke the next morning to witness the first snowfall of the year. It was really, really memorable as it was not a regular kind of honeymoon."

Oindrilla Dutta, Dancer

Loads of Fun!

"Our honeymoon was in Switzerland where my husband presented me with a bottle of Chanel perfume and a box of Lindt chocolates. Sounds luxurious? Quite the contrary! We were a couple of students living on a shoestring budget when we got married. And to make our honeymoon possible we had saved for months prior to our trip.

We traveled through Europe on a Eurail pass, roughing it out all the way - carrying backpacks, traveling in the metros and trams, eating at takeaways, and spending nights either in trains, at youth hostels or bed-and-breakfast accommodations. And even if it wasn't a very romantic honeymoon in the true sense of the term, it was loads of fun and truly memorable."

Disastrous Start!

Honey-Moonstruck!!!"We were in love and had to elope to get married. After completing the legal formalities, we set off on a seven-day honeymoon to Shillong. Not only was the evening flight to Guwahati late by a couple of hours, but also I suffered from motion sickness throughout the journey. We then got into a cab that would take us to Shillong, which was three hours away from the airport.

But luck wasn't on our side... the vehicle broke down and there we were - stranded, in the middle of a jungle, in the middle of the night! We hitched a ride on a passing truck. By the time we reached the hotel, we were so tired we just passed out. Of course, we more than made up for it later. It was a glorious end to what was a disastrous start."

Bina Mishra, Housewife

Sweet Singapore!

"Our was an arranged marriage and we had not really discussed our honeymoon. A fortnight before the wedding, I asked Deepa for her passport. She thought I was joking when I asked her if she'd like to go to Singapore for our honeymoon. She was rather nervous as we didn't know each other very well and it was her first trip abroad.

But our hosts, one of my friends, Roxy, made our stay a most memorable one. He provided us with two spacious rooms, fed us to the brim and guided us to the hot spots of the city. We explored every corner of Singapore, shopped till we dropped, and ended up returning home with tons of luggage and a heart full of fond memories.
