Worst dating nightmares

Swarup Dey, a student from KolkataSwarup Dey
"I was supposed to meet my girlfriend Soma near Victoria Memorial on Valentine's Day. I wanted to give her the sweetest gift ever -- I knew that she loved to eat. I had a hole in my pocket and therefore I knew that I wouldn't be able to buy her something expensive, so I bought her a huge pot of rossogollas. As my girlfriend saw me walk towards the entrance of Victoria Memorial with a big pot in my hand she started frowning. She told me that I had embarrassed her with my crude taste.

Confused and hurt I dropped the pot. The pot was smashed to pieces and the rossogollas were scattered on the dirty pavement. Crows immediately swooped down and started devouring them. A laughing crowd gathered around us."

"I was spending a family vacation in Bangalore, when a Chennai-based guy I was dating online came over for a day to meet me. He took me out to an exotic Chinese restaurant and ordered several appetisers.

He suggested that we nap after a heavy meal and the best place to do so was in his double-bed in his hotel room. I was speechless. He realised that I was shocked and remarked, "Hey, it's no big deal. Do you know I got two strippers in my hotel room to celebrate my birthday -- one male and one female?" Precisely at that moment, a bellboy of the same hotel turned up and asked him, "Radhika was asking for the keys of your hotel room. Should we give it to her?" I fled.

"A girl living in a Mumbai hostel invited me to a party. So, I landed up for the party in a five-star hotel, and to my surprise, I was the only one who was invited. It dawned on me that this was actually a romantic candle-light dinner and no party. We ordered a mocktail and the waiter delivered it straight to our cake, as the glass slipped from his hands. The table was a mess and so were our clothes. Fortunately, we were through with dinner and it was bill-paying time. To my surprise the bill just lay there on the table and my date barely gave it a second glance! So like a gentleman, I paid the bill and we left the hotel with me feeling as though I had just been looted!"

My date was a homophobic. He asked, "Do you have lesbian friends?" He continued lecturing me about how sinful homosexuality was and his worst nightmare was to be married to a 'homosexual girl'. I told him that he could rest assured that I was straight, as I'd had crushes on many guys before and had even gone out with a few.

He got paranoid, "Then are you an alcoholic who visits nightclubs dressed in skimpy clothes? Don't you have any Indian values at all?" I soon got fed up with his questions and asked, "Well, do you have any more questions to ask me?" He answered, "No ma'am." I replied, "That's good. Because I don't have anything to ask you either!"

"Kishore and me had been pen pals for a very long time. Finally, we decided to meet up at a restaurant. Kishore had booked a table and was waiting when a girl came in and said that she had booked the very same table. Kishore rudely told her to look for another table as he had come first and was waiting for his friend. They started quarrelling and finally the girl went away. Kishore continued to wait, but his date didn't arrive. I called Kishore in the evening and asked him the reason for his absence.

Kishore said, "I was waiting for a long time, but a girl came to the table and insisted that she had booked it too. She was just awful." A baffled me answered, "Oh goodness, it was me!" A surprise readers, I am Sarmistha and Kishore is my husband. We have been happily married for eight years."
