Fascinating world of Chakras
The path to blissful love
|
Many of you have been asking questions about Chakras. What are Chakras? Are these physical organs? Are they really so important for us that we must know about them? How do they impact our world? Can working with Chakras transform the quality of our life? What does Chakra have to do with the aspects of emotions, love and relationships? How does the Chakra energy differ for man and woman? How man and woman can work on each other to take quantum leaps in their own lives? This article is an effort to provide answers to these questions, at least partially. More articles in this series will be dealing with Chakras extensively.
Chakras are energy centres through which life energies flow. Chakras are not the part of a physical body (Anna Shareer), but rather they relate with Astral body (Pran Shareer). The physical body and the astral body are connected together by way of these Chakras. These Chakras can be specifically located at a particular place in the physical body along the spine. Each of the Chakras is associated with one of the basic core energies that we work with in life. When the soul leaves the body, energy structure also leaves with it in the form of Chakra consciousness. Hence all the karmas from past life are stored in Chakra by way of its energy flow and awareness.
Before I begin to describe the Chakras, let me share a very basic insight. While the energy on a Chakra describes the intensity and importance of that particular area of life, which that Chakra represents, awareness of a Chakra describes if that energy is in alignment with cosmic harmony and hence it is put to right use or not. First three Chakras represent the animal world, fourth Anahad chakra - the human existence and the next 3 higher Chakras represent the divinity. Hence the energy at lower Chakras can get manifested in a destructive way and hence higher awareness is necessary. When the energy moves to higher Chakras, it results in the manifestation of divine qualities.
Let us now understand the seven basic Chakras and their character.
The First Chakra - Muladhara
This Chakra resides in the pelvis area. It represents the urge to exist and survive in spite of adverse circumstances and hence deals with physical necessities of life: food, shelter and the needs of our animal nature. High awareness of first Chakra enables us to feel secure in this physical world, while the lower awareness induces the struggle for survival.
The Second Chakra - Svadhishthana
The genital area is the seat of this Chakra, hence it is also called the Sex Chakra. It represents our sexual urges and fantasies, creativity, and procreation. Higher awareness of this Chakra leads to creation and channelisation of sexual energy to higher Chakras, while the lower awareness results in sexual guilt and perversions, energy drainage and wandering mind. This Chakra holds immense importance in Tantrik practices, as the energy required to awaken higher Chakras is created here, by way of natural attraction to opposite sex. It is even more important for men to awaken this Chakra, as it may result in freedom from the slavery of their own sexual urges and hence leads him to the true ecstasy of sex.
