Playing Hard To Get; Does It Work?
|
Why did both Ameep and Devika distance the person they were dating?
Chrisann explains, "Too much of positive behaviour, kills the pleasure of gradual discovery. Whereas lack of positive behaviour will alienate your partner and you will end up like Devika."
Why are women rather than men socially conditioned to play hard to get?
Srinivasan Narayana Moorthy, Technical Architect replies, "Observe nature around you, look at the birds and the animals, the peacock and not the peahen has to show off its plumes to entice. That's how the male species is wired."
Chrisann's view is, "This has an evolutionary basis to it. Men have been the hunters and evolutionary speaking the thrill of the chase and capturing it promotes the psychological well-being of a man. Society continues perpetuating this till date. However, this is almost obsolete in civilized society, and liberated people wouldn't subscribe to such patriarchal ideas of relating."
To sum up, the whole point of playing hard to get is to demonstrate your value to your date. Don't encroach on your date's personal space and constantly want his / her emotional validation or affirmation as that may term you as 'desperate'. Purposely being a complete ice-queen hoping that it will charm doesn't help either. The trick is to take things slow and enjoy the journey as much as the destination!
