Liar Liar
Common lies to watch out for in your partner

Liar Liar Men lie. Women lie. It is also said that a lie is not a lie unless it harms someone. So, why not conceal the truth to avoid turbulence in a relationship? Says clinical psychologist Anisha Trivedi, "Men and women lie for different reasons. Men need to feed their ego. They need to flaunt their assets and way of thinking. Men's lies are very creative. In relation to this, a woman lies in order to help the man satisfactorily feed his ego. Women tend to lie to spare someone's feelings or to avoid conflict."

But, constant lying - about trivial or major matters - can prove dangerous to a relationship. Here are some common lies that you need to watch out for in your partner.

5 Lies men tell women:
  1. "I'm sorry."
When a man says this, it is only to make a quick escape from a situation. He wants to avoid further interrogation, or a few more tears from his woman. This lie has stood the test of time and remains the choice no.1 for many stricken males.

  2. "Oh yes! I am very much single."
Says Anisha, "When a man says this, it is to make the woman feel secure. It is to grab her attention and let her feel that he has the time for her." Men lie to make themselves seem more impressive when approaching women. They see the dating game as a competition and think they have to outdo rivals. So they self-dramatize.

  3. "You don't look fat."
You are just leaving for a date. Your woman asks you whether she looks fat in the dress she is wearing. What would you say? "Of course not!" He does not want to see her upset. "It is the best answer a man can give in order to come out unscathed out of a situation," says Anisha.

  4. "I'll be there in 15 minutes."
It is almost a universal happening. Men are never on time. They make their women wait. Women often feel that their men do not give them top priority in their life. They feel that men have more important issues in life to deal with. Hence, to make a woman feel that he also cares about her, the man lies to her to show her that he is making all the effort to get there on time.

  5. "I love spending time with your mom."
Some men feel that the way to a woman's heart is through her family. In order to make the woman feel that he really cares about her, the man will make sure he tells her that he is involved with her. Involvement with family, friends and work. Even if the family is obnoxious, it is worth putting up with them if you are in love with the girl and are looking out for a serious relationship.
