Top 4 Guilt Trips Wives Lay On Their Husbands

Guilt trip #3: Picking at her cooking

Your wife is quite a good cook but there are days when you just pick at your food without really enjoying it. Your wife comments about it and indirectly tells you something like, "I slaved over the hot stove all day long and you can't even be bothered to eat. If you really love me you'll eat all your food and ask for more!"

What to do: Girls, if your husband isn't eating, ask him why. It is not necessary that your husband isn't eating because he doesn't like the food. May be he isn't hungry or perhaps he has a lot on his mind to be able to eat. Don't use food as a source of gratification and don't equate appreciation for your cooking with love.

Guys, tell your wives the reason you're picking at your food. Even if it is because you don't like the food, tell her nicely instead of just pushing it around the plate or actually eating it out of guilt.

Guilt trip #4: Chilling on Sundays

"At least you get one day in the week off and can be a couch potato on Sundays. We don't have that luxury and have to work (run behind the kids, cook, clean, manage the house) even on a Sunday!" This is a classic case of making husbands feel guilty for lounging around doing nothing on their off days.

What to do: I personally don't think it is fair to expect housewives to always be-on-the-job 24/7, while the men get to chill when they are off from work. So, this particular guilt trip may well be justified!

Having said that, here's what I think couples can do to resolve this guilt trip issue - men can help their wives with some of the chores around the house, entertain the kids for a few hours and give the wife a break and order out on Sundays instead of cooking. Simply appreciating everything your wife is doing also goes a long way towards making her feel happy, which in turn will reduce the frequency of these guilt trips!
