Adjustments In Marriages

Make Love, Not War

Grace and Ben Live and let live. This holds true for marriage too. In a marriage there will be some differences between the partners which should be accepted. Grace says, "There are times when you need to give in to your spouse instead of saying no all the time. My husband liked to party and socialise whereas I liked to stay indoors. I realized that I couldn't go on saying no to what he liked to do all the time. One just has to respect differences and live on."

Fights arising from differences in attitudes may be a natural part of marriage. But if these fights are frequent, prolonged and packed with bitterness your marriage may be in trouble.

Ritu Khanna says, "If people are having serious fights over issues like leaving the cap off the toothpaste then they really need to give a long hard look at what is being camouflaged by these inane problems. These are usually the symptoms of larger issues of unresolved anger or just dysfunctional communication."

Summing it up very succinctly, Jacob Joy, Senior HR Consultant says, "When you feel genuine concern for your spouse's happiness and sorrows, you'll change for him / her naturally and subconsciously. You'll never feel the pinch of adjustment, be it anything! As long as both of you are one you won't feel you are doing a favour for your spouse by adjusting for him / her."

So, are you ready to adjust and give your marriage a fair chance?
