The post-wedding syndrome
|
This didn't upset Urmi. Instead she got a real kick when Deep acted jealous and possessive. It was love after all. Deep loved Urmi so much that he didn't want to share any part of her with anyone else. So after teasing Deep a little, she dumped that blue dress off her own accord and went shopping for her marriage trousseau.
She was careful there. Short skirts, backless cholis, low neck blouses, all were no no. Her man was such an old fashioned sweetheart.
They got married. Life seemed like a bed of roses to Urmi. She loved everything about Deep, including his jealous and possessive nature. It made her feel special. In return, she was ready to do everything that would keep him happy.
Once she bought a lovely chiffon shirt that she loved at the first sight but never wore it outside the home because Deep found it indecently sexy looking. Urmi got a little upset but later when Deep asked her to wear it as a nightshirt, she giggled like schoolgirl. Given a chance, her dear hubby would keep her under burkha, she said teasingly. And Deep said that was a very good idea indeed. Both laughed. Life was so good.
But after a few months, Urmi didn't laugh when Deep accused her of being too friendly with the neighbour guy. Another time he was upset when Urmi opened the door for him wearing shorts and a sleeveless tee. "You were wearing this all day?" he asked. And When Urmi said yes, he said sarcastically, "and the whole neighbourhood had an opportunity to ogle my wife."
"Don't be silly" Urmi said a bit irritatedly. It had been a very hot day and now Deep was raising the mercury further by his thoughtless remarks. She went to sleep angry.
Unfortunately it was not going to be just one such night. As time progressed, Urmi found more and more reasons to be irritated by Deep's dos and donts. The jealous and possessive nature of her man, which she had found so endearing once was now suffocating her.
Deep couldn't understand. He had not changed, so what had happened to his sweet wife?
Urmi was angry with herself. How could she have fallen for such a conservative, narrow minded man? She asked herself. Once she had felt protected inside the walls that Deep had created around her. Now she was feeling like a prisoner. The very things that she loved in Deep were now making her angry and miserable.
