Look beyond height
But then came a flurry of advice from well-meaning friends - "Yaar, you'll feel so awkward. It was okay to date her, but imagine being the centre of attraction at parties for such a weird reason," came from Rishi's chums. "I don't mind at all," he replied, "Frankly, I love Sumisha and after all, I don't only feel like I'm married to a model but actually am - Wow!"
"You'll look so odd dancing" and "Why are you marrying him? He will not grow any more, surely you realize that!" - It was the latter comment, that came from Sumisha's girlfriends (fortunately her family was supportive knowing that Rishi was a great guy) that really got to her.
"Ladies, when my grandparents married, my granddad was an inch taller than my grandmother, who was big made. I'm sure you know that as people age, they undergo some reduction in their spine. They're both in their late-seventies now, and while grandmother has retained much of her height, granddad looks quite short in comparison. But, they're still happy together, and still so in love. It doesn't matter who is taller. We're all going to change over time on the outside, but it's the inside that I'm concerned about. Isn't that the true measure of a man (or woman)?"
Point well made?
Love lies in the heart, not height
Sumisha has ably looked past Rishi's height and found love. She strongly advocates that just as a woman wouldn't like her physical characteristic to come in the way of being loved, a shorter guy should be given a chance. "You never know" she says, "He might turn out to be your Mr. Right."
So guys, if you're able to say "Height difference? What height difference?" rest assured that you'll be joining the company of reel life stalwarts Rajpal Yadav, Tom Cruise, Dustin Hoffman and Sylvester Stallone. Truly, you're in great company!
