Death & Love
|
Can death kill love?
Radha understood his pain - after all, she was in the same boat. She tried to suggest counseling or therapy. But Somesh refused. Friends tried to encourage him to move on and involve himself in charity work. Still, he adamantly declined to take part in any activities.
The situation continued for three years, during which time Radha grew busier with her college activities. She had her own grief to deal with, but she knew that she was coping well inspite of the situation.
As time went by, the couple drifted apart. Somesh refused to come out of his grief - until he took a trip to a pilgrimage site in the Himalayas. But then, he came back saying he had decided to spend sometime in a monastery.
Radha realized that if this was the only way he would be happy, and feel alive, she would have to let go. The death of her son had caused the death of their relationship too.
For a year thence, the couple hardly stayed in touch - a phone call in six months was about it. Amazingly, Radha did not grow bitter, but of course she no longer felt the same about her husband.
Finally, she requested Somesh for a divorce. She had no choice - as she realized that he had crossed the point of no-return. He agreed. Radha is now waiting for the divorce to come through. She wonders if she will ever experience love again.
Love is cyclic. It runs its course, from birth to death.
