Women's rights and her fights
Apart from the above, every woman has unfettered legal right to complain to the nearest police station in the jurisdiction where she resides and invoke the legal process for any extreme and or wrongful behaviour or any cruel act of one in the society at large.

One even needs to know that a woman who is been tortured by her family members for dowry demands many invoke the Dowry Prohibition Act 1961 which itself says volumes and a person can be criminally held liable for such dowry demands.

There has been a recent entry for the protection of women under the Domestic Violence Act, 2005 keeping in view the rights guaranteed under Articles 14,15 and 21 of the Constitution of India. This Act intends to protect women from being victims of domestic violence and to prevent the occurrence of domestic violence in the society. The expression "domestic violence" includes actual abuse or threat or abuse that is physical, sexual, verbal, emotional and/or economic.

Every woman needs to know that "cruelty" is and can be a very strong and a valid legal ground for matrimonial relief, which has been defined under the Indian Legal System.

Any one caught in the above mentioned situation can file the necessary applications and petitions for obtaining divorce or maintenance under the Matrimonial laws of our land in the appropriate jurisdiction of the place of marriage or residence. They can also opt to make a criminal complaint invoking the penal sections under the Indian Penal Code in the appropriate Criminal Forum in India.

Every woman is entitled to enjoy every economic, social, cultural and political rights without any discrimination and on a strong footing of equality in our country. Happy Women's Day!
