It's all about complex relationships
The trend of narrating numerous stories in one has started. Salaam E-Ishq, Life Mein Kabhie Kabhie, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. to name a few. Life In A Metro follows the path with an élan. Even though multiple stories run together, in the same way all characters are linked with each other.

With Life In A Metro following the race, director Anurag Basu (Murder, Gangster) proves that he is a good storyteller.
The script of the movie is completely based on the metropolitan city in which an attempt is made to demonstrate the practical and emotional side of human mind. Life In A Metro starts on a very practical note where all its characters think from their brains and ends on a very emotional note when their heart takes over. The positive side of the film is that the film has no male or female lead, but all the characters are equally important in the film.
Script of the movie is comparatively good highlighting the life in a metro, how it gets jumbled up in the chase of material happiness and humanly feelings.

The movie has strong emotional intensity were each character is hunting for something.Shikha (Shilpa Shetty) is married to Ranjeet (Kay Kay) with a 6-year old son. She stays at home to take care of their house and son. Slowly lust takes over love and Ranjeet out of boredom, slips into illicit relation with his secretary Neha (Kangana Ranaut). Here Shikha too feels neglected and she gets attracted towards Akash (Shiney Ahuja). Akash is a struggling theatre actor and a looser and a rebel without cause. And the story goes on further.

This way how the people in metro have no time for their family but are seeking to fulfill their needs of lust at some other avenues which is eventually influencing imperfectly in their personal life. The initial phase of the story emphasizes on the appalling aspects of a metro but in the later half the movie takes a different turn by having some positive spark to the entire movie.

With Dharmendra in a different track who reunites with his college love Nafisa Ali at a later stage of life and experiencing the live-in relationship is again a very rare episode in these days. Also how a couple is trying to find a life partner through shaadi.com in the movie and eventually falls in love with a lot of humour, practicality and emotions tagged with it is clearly shown in the track of Konkona and Irrfan. This couple lightens up the entire serious mood of the movie.

The movie has also shown how the call center industry has boomed up and how people working there are aiming for their dream at a faster pace through shortcuts in life by keeping emotions behind. The entire meaning of life changes with such approach towards life. How the characters go through a tough phase in life making some mistakes and wrong decisions, which lands them into trouble also showing the strength of each character similarly.

Music director Pritam has done a fair job. The music seemed to flow with the story. The performances of all actors were upto the mark. Each actor has performed his / her role well.

Overall the movie seemed perfect with good and bad shades of a metro.

Happy watching Metro in a metro!!!
