Is your bed facing the right direction?
Today everything needs to be Vaastu -perfect. When moving into a new home or redoing the current home most couples want to get the Vaastu right. Every one wants to know which is the right direction to sleep or right position of the bed, study, kitchen, etc. But does it really work in mending relations? Can a made-to-order Vaastu bedroom bring in romance, peace, et al?
"I did not like to return home. I felt insecure and uncomfortable when I stayed alone at home.  I was also facing sleeping disorders. Doctors said that it was a psychological problem and stemmed from anxiety and depression. I was undergoing medical treatment. But when it did not help, I turned to Vaastu as the last resort. Thanks to Vaastu , today I am a completely changed person. I experienced good results within 6-7 months. I became more positive and also developed an interest in Yoga and spirituality." said Mr. Raju Tulalwar, a central government employee.
"It was found that there was some architectural problem with the bathroom attached to my bedroom. With the flow of water, all the positive energy was draining out! I consulted a Vaastu expert and installed some small Vaastu pyramids in all the rooms. These are small decorative pieces which emanate positive energy in the rooms. These energy waves affect your mind and help you to think positively. Now I feel much better and all the negative thoughts have vanished," he added.
His wife, Mrs Akshata Tulalwar who works as a marriage counselor with the Mumbai Family Court, has also seen a huge positive change in her husband after implementing Vaastu . She says, "Our relationship has also improved a lot now because of the marked change in his attitude and mind-set. Now we don't argue too often. We are able to think alike and arrive at solutions more smoothly."
Shwetta Keswani, aka Avantika of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii , who is busy doing up her new home also believes in Vaastu Shastra . She says, "Though I've not taken help from a professional Vaastu Shastra expert, I came to know about the basic tenets from my friends and follow them."
 "Indian architecture is intrinsic in nature and keeps in mind the physical and mental well-being of the people residing in the house", says Vaastu expert and interior designer, Aamrapali Bhogle. "Vaastu brings love, peace, prosperity and contentment within a household. It looks after emotional, physical and financial health of a person. Hence, even if one factor goes wrong it can affect relationships and can create a turmoil in life," she adds.
Dr Ratnadeep S Ayachit, a child specialist by profession, strongly believes in Vaastu Shastra and is a practicing consultant today. "Vaastu is for the betterment of people. It generates positive thoughts and energetic feelings. I found that Vaastu works harmoniously with nature and explains many things which our medical science fails to do. It also works as a wonder for strengthening relationships. The shapes and colour of things in the bedroom reflects a constant energy which affects the sub-conscious mind. In such a case Vaastu acts as the best medicine," he said.
Vaastu guide for your bedroom
- Right direction: The master bedroom should be in the South West corner of the house. If the house has more than one floor then it should be on the top most floor. The ceiling should be in level to make the energy of the room uniform, which in turn gives one a steady state of mind.
- Wrong direction: South East is not recommended as this is the quadrant of fire and couples tend to be more argumentative in that corner. The North West can also be avoided as being the pocket of air, one tends to be away from the home for some reason or the other.
- Bed position: The foot board of your bed should ideally face the North. It should not face the South because similar magnetic poles of the earth and your body will repel against each other and this will affect your health. You will have a disturbed sleep and this will also affect your relationships.
