Be yourself
Karan asks,
I'm all set for my first meeting with my first alliance partner. I would like to know what is the etiquette for the first meeting with the girl and her parents. I'm a confident guy but still tense as how should I present myself and get some good impression. I would like to know how I should start and what all should I talk? Need advice on some do's and don'ts on this occasion so that I don't mess up with the first impression. Thanks.
Dear Karan,
Very sweet of you. What I understand from your mail is that you are extremely conscious and aware and really wish to grow. Please be yourself and ofcourse with our normal etiquette. Do maintain our traditional practices if the other side is into it. You have to assess. It is important to be soft spoken but do not project what you are not.
Interact much
Maria asks,
My daughter, 23 years old is a quiet girl, withdrawn most of the time. She makes no attempt to be the first to make friends. Afraid to ask questions and finally is bored most of the time, although she works in a good company. What do you suggest?
Dear Maria,
If she has any hobbies, she should pursue them. Circulate in gatherings and parties if possible. Involve her in social activities. But if she is happy then please do not worry.
Men and commitment
Sanjana asks,
Why do men fear commitment? Currently in a relationship with a man for 9 yrs, we both like each other however the man is unable to decide about marriage and he doesn't know the reason although he is keen but unable to take a decision on marriage. Please help as I need to help my man take a decision.
Dear Sanjana,
Reasons are many. However, since you know him for 9 yrs, you are also aware of his strengths & weaknesses. Try to understand his fears and address them and not blame him (not that you are doing it). No point in questioning why he is the way he is. You both care for each other and at times you have to be the decision maker.
Improve vocabulary
Khushi asks,
What can I do to be more confident and to improve my spoken English and also to build up my vocabulary? My other problem is that while writing, my English is flawless but while speaking I make blunders and can not come across that well. What can I do to rectify?
Dear Khushi,
Please read a lot of good English books and continuously converse in English.
Attractive personality
Jitender Singh asks,
How can I build an attractive personality?
Dear Jitender,
Understand your body. See yourself in the mirror. Be clean, dress well. Secondly, find your qualities and negatives. Improve on the qualities and rectify negatives. Observe people and happenings. Gradually you will grow.
