Be A Blushing, Not A Bulimic Bride!

Be A Blushing, Not A Bulimic Bride! Who cares about an hourglass figure, when you can blush your way into your husband's heart!

Like every bride, you too crave to look your best on your wedding day and that is a given. But have you realized that what defines your best (size) may differ from the brides in the many wedding magazines you've been perusing?

What you shouldn't do...

So - you may be a little plump, or more than that! But if this fact has only sunk in now that you're engaged, and your D-day is not far away, avoid diets that could lead you to look more like a bulimic bride than a quintessential blushing bride.

Weddings may be complicated affairs, and you're bound to keep really busy in the run up to your big day. For this reason, a strenuous exercise plan could prove to be your tipping point, and totally mess you up! In all your busy-ness, you may perhaps miss gym appointments, and end up feeling depressed about not sticking to your schedule. After all, there's only so much stress anyone can handle, right?

But at the same time, crash diets are also a no-no, as they can lead to illness, or stress you out even more or leave you looking washed-out.

Handy tips to look your radiant best

Fact is - getting in shape requires a lot of time and effort, so it is best done gradually. Nevertheless, if you desire to lose weight prior to getting hitched, here are a few tips to do whatever's possible in the time you have:

  • Inspite of the hectic schedules, eat at regular intervals as skipping meals will only bring on headaches, cause you to experience junk food cravings and in the worse-case, lead you to binge eat. Binge eating can be disastrous as it is often a precursor of eating disorders like bulimia, besides which it'll pack on unwanted extra pounds on your already overweight body.
  • If you're out shopping, carry fruit with you. Instead of colas, buy flavoured milk or nariyal paani  or juice (but only if there is a clean vendor in the vicinity).
  • Don't even try imagining yourself as a waif thin bride, especially if you've always been the 'healthy' sort! But while vowing to lose like 20kg in two months is ridiculous, you can help your cause by stocking your kitchen and refrigerator with health food. In fact, instead of focusing on the weight you wish you could knock off, decide to only eat fresh fruit, vegetable and whole grains in the run up to your wedding. Invariably, you will find yourself loosing weight and will also acquire a healthy glow on your face.
  • Exercise, not necessarily at the gym, as even a morning / evening walk will do. Exercise infuses energy into tired bodies and improves circulation - that'll add to your facial glow and help you blush deeper! If you're really short on time, exercise in short 10-minute spurts three or four times a day. And of course, take the stairs whenever possible and don't aim to park too near to the mall when you're out shopping!
  • Granted - there is a lot to do. But share the work with friends and close relatives. Don't take on too much. Don't lose (your beauty) sleep over your wedding. In fact, if anything, aim to sleep a little extra in the last fortnight prior to your wedding.
  • Since you're aiming to lose weight, select a dress that may easily be altered if required, as there may be a gap of a few months between buying your dress and your D-day. Or if you're planning to wear a sari, make arrangements with your tailor to have the blouse stitched say, just a fortnight prior to the actual date.

Most importantly, remember that it is the emotion of the wedding day that really gets to a bride and has her blushing. So don't panic about your shape when all you need to do is to feel good about yourself!
