Limp locks? Dandruff on your collar? Pathetic plaits? Blame it to the monsoon. But the good news is you don't have to live with it.
The best of blow drying, perming and styling gets dumped against the monsoons. The constant fluctuation in weather tends to give your hair a dull and lifeless look irrelevant to whether you are under the direct influence of the downpour or not.
Your hair is one of your most prominent features and greatly reflects your look thus it is utmost important to keep them healthy.
Let us consider certain consequences of hair damage.
Humidity.... can wreck your hair.
Remedy: The best protection is to keep your hair sparkling clean and in beautiful condition by shampooing it as often as you like, provided you use a mild and gentle shampoo.
Dandruff.... a menace during the rains.
There are basically two types of dandruff- dry and oily. During the monsoons people tend to suffer more from oily dandruff.
Remedy: Apply and leave on white vinegar on the scalp for at least 20 minutes prior to a bath and thereafter shampoo well.
Hair loss... a tension factor
Remedy: A mixture of coconut milk and lemon juice can prevent hair loss. Yogurt, eggs and lemon juice rubbed into the scalp is said to accelerate hair growth while cucumber has excellent astringent properties. Honey acts as a powerful moisturizer for silky hair.
Split ends...
Half of the cure for split ends is prevention: Don't brush your hair too much, use brushes and combs with smooth, wide-set teeth. Don't brush wet hair! If you have knots, use a wide-toothed comb or your fingers to gently detangle from the ends up, one section at a time. A trim will rid you of split ends instantly. In the meantime, a split-end treatment, a leave-in conditioner with light hold applied to the ends can temporarily seal the splits.
Generally, it is viable to look after shorter hair since it is easier to manage. Those with long flowing locks could also consider having a change in look by going in for a shorter cut; a well-selected style and well-executed cut can make you look quite trendy. Shorter length will give the hair a fuller look. It is also important to look after your tresses as per it's nature.
NORMAL HAIR
Women with normal hair who follow a normal washing and conditioning routine will also find their hair a little sticky during the monsoon. If this happens, avoid conditioning your hair, especially on very rainy days.
Take half a cup of amla powder, add to it two table spoons of castor oil and one full egg and make into a smooth mixture. Apply on the hair and the scalp; leave on for about 30 minutes before shampooing.
