Hair loss

Question Salma asks,
I am facing hair fall and this is bothering me especially from front of my scalp. I am very concerned. Recent blood tests revealed that I have low Vitamin D count. Could this be the main reason for my hair loss? Also my mum has the same problem and she too has low Vitamin D.
Answer Dear Salma,

Any change or deficiency in your body can give rise to hair loss. You can take Vitamin D supplements with your doctor's advice and if it does not solve your problem in 4 months, see a Trichologist who can look for other reasons to solve your problem.

Hair Growth

Question Saida ask,
I have a problem with my hair. I have cut it short and now it grows really slow. I have the same length of hair for a year now. Where could the problem be? I used to have thick hair now it's really thin, and my curls are gone also. What's the best treatment to make hair healthy and to grow again?
Answer Dear Saida,

You have not mentioned your age. Anyways hair growth depends on many factors like hereditary, age, hormonal changes and nutritional deficiencies. Improve your diet; take good amount of proteins and zinc supplement.

Seborrhea

Question Carmela asks,
My hair is quite thin and I have oily, itchy scalp with dandruff. Kindly let me know how to get rid of this itching and it falls a lot.
Answer Dear Carmela,

Your symptoms are suggestive of Seborrhea or in common terms overactive oil glands and because of which your scalp becomes greasy and harbours fungi and results in dandruff and itching. Shampoo at least thrice a week with shampoo containing zinc sulphate and salicilic acid. For your hair loss have oral supplement containing nutrients such as zinc, inositol, biotin, silica and essential fatty acids.
