SRK's Six Pack Secrets
Tips for developing six pack abs SRK style

Shahrukh Khan Even before his delectable six-pack body, Shahrukh Khan was King of Bollywood and everyone's favourite. But after he has managed to develop those chiselled abs women from the age of 16 to 60 practically go nuts every time they see SRK and can't stop drooling over the man.

And although men may not go so far as drooling, they are mightily envious that someone could get such a sculpted body at the ripe (ahem...) age of 42!

For all of you who are dying to get amazing six packs Shahrukh Khan style, here are some abs building tips and exercises actually used by SRK himself.

Shahrukh Khan Tips For Developing Six Pack Abs SRK Style

Proper Diet:
Regardless of how much you exercise and work out your abdominal area, you're never going to get picture perfect abs if you don't pay attention to your diet. Deepika Padukone spilled the beans when she revealed that even SRK gave up his favourite biryani and other foods for close to three months and followed a diet of boiled chicken, vegetables, and protein rich foods strictly. Here's what you need to do:
  • Follow a low carbohydrate and high protein diet.
  • Increase your intake of protein rich foods such as chicken, turkey, lean meats, egg whites, skimmed milk, pulses, paneer and fish.
  • Avoid simple carbohydrates such as cakes, biscuits, sugar, pastries, chips, white rice, bread etc completely. Try and eat complex carbohydrates such as brown rice, vegetables, wheat bread, yam, cereals that have high fibre content and oats.
  • Have a protein drink after every workout.
  • Drink 2-3 litres of water everyday.
  • Avoid sweets. If you have a craving for anything sweet, eat fruits as this is usually enough to satisfy and sugar cravings.

Systematic Exercise Routine:
In addition to changing your diet, you have to exercise regularly. Here are the components of a systematic exercise plan to tone your abs:
  1. Cardio: Cardio exercises such as aerobics, running, walking, jogging, using the cross trainer and cycling are an absolute must when you're trying to build six pack abs. If you concentrate only on abs exercises and don't do any cardio, your abs will not show even if they are developed properly as the fat on your belly will hide them. Thus, try to do at least 1/2 hour of cardio everyday, and if you can mange 1 hour, that much better!
  2. Abdominal exercises: When working out on your abs, make sure you work out all the areas on your abdomen such as the upper abs, lower abs, obliques (side abs) and also the lower part of your back. Here are some exercises that will help you to do that:
    • Sit-ups: Contrary to what most people believe, doing crunches is not the best exercise for your abs. You should do sit-ups instead. To do sit-ups, you have to lie on your back and then raise your entire upper body so that you are in a sitting position with your legs stretched out. Then lower your upper body slowly till you are lying down again. Keep your hands folded on your chest. Aim for 10-15 repetitions and do 2 sets.
    • Leg raises: While lying down, try and lift your legs so that they are 90 degrees to the floor, without lifting your hips or back. Slowly lower your legs to the floor and repeat. 10-15 repetitions and 2 sets.
    • Side bend: Stand straight and bend to one side without bending forward. Repeat on the other side. This is a great exercise for your obliques.

TIP: Never train your abs more than 3 times a week, that too on alternate days. Your abdominal muscles need to recover after every workout so that they can become stronger. Working out your abs everyday will not help you develop them faster, but will only lead to muscle damage and injury.

Now that you know SRK's secrets to his wonderful six-pack abs, don't let anything keep you from getting your very own!
