Get a fresh look this summer

Get a fresh look this summer Matte about you
For the day wet gloss look is just not in. It's all about matte and creamy matte. Yes, but vibrant colours like pinks, oranges and reds will add that extra zing. To suit the Indian skin tone one can keep a light brown lip liner handy. Line your lips with the liner, (lightly so that it highlights but does not stand out). Then fill it with brown and add whatever colour you want to use for your lips. The base will even out the colour, lift dull colours and tone bright ones. It can be wisely used to create a colour that suits your skin tone by browning an overly bright red or orange.

As for the cheeks, highlighting powder is fine. Add a little shimmer if absolutely necessary but it's best avoided as it makes the skin look oily even if one may not feel so. Colours for blush should be subtle. Rust, peach, apricot, old rose, pink can be used to add a touch but in a very small quantity. Just to add a touch. Again remember, cream blushes are completely out.

Cory Walia & Katrina Kaif On a night out
For the night the best bet for colours is to match vibrant shades with your dress. Bronze and copper colours are big this season.

Kajal  is fine for the night. It can be used fairly heavy and lined with liner outside to prevent it from smudging or leaking. Eye shadows can be interesting. Use a darker shade of eye shadow outside using a smoky brown, black or grey shade and blend it with bronze. This makes the eyes look almond shaped. One can also add a touch of pink to make it look more natural.

Colours for eye shadows this summer are shades like purple, violet, mauve, and burgundy, so have a field day!

Don't forget your eyeliner. Use a black base liner and then apply metallic eyeliner on top of it.

Metallic mantra
Metallic is the mantra for the lips too. Gloss is out and so is shimmer. Both make the lips look oily and about to melt. Metallic and frosted colours like bronze, gold, violet take over by keeping the zing and cutting the melti-ness. The only exception to using gloss is maybe for very young girls who might look a little grown up with lipstick. The look in summer is all about fun, frolic and sophisticated freshness.

A small tip: Keep a blotter handy to dab on to any excess oil that your skin may generate. So, you are all ready to let your more beautiful side shine through the summer.
