Specific care for specific skin types. Continuing last week's article on tips for the bride-to-be Jamuna Pai advices her on the type of treatment best suited for her specific skin type.
Once the skin types (that is, oily, dry, combination, sensitive.) are identified
then the specific care for that skin type needs to be taken.
An oily skin which many brides to be suffer from needs special care. This is the
skin type most likely to break out into pimples and blackheads which leave ugly scars and blemishes which undermine her very confidence leaving her with severe complexes.
Her diet is prescribed which she has to strictly adhere to as inclusion of a lot of oils, spices, sweets, aerated drinks, etc. in her diet, could, aggravate her problems.
She should consume plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and water. Her exercise schedules have also to be worked out depending on her weight with respect to her height, her day to day activities, how much time she has, etc.
She needs to wash her face more often with soap and water, use clay packs at least twice a week to remove dead skin cells and draw out the inner oils. She may need to take a course of antibiotics, apply gels and creams topically if the pimples are present.
The salon treatment includes efforts at decreasing the oils of the skin by various techniques and gadgets and also keeping the bacterial levels low.
Use of a moisturizer is a must, regardless of skin type. Here, another treatment which increases the moisture levels of the skin without altering the oil levels needs to be mentioned is the galvanic treatment. A repeated session of these make the skin supple and glow with health. Dry skins are treated with cream massages, moisture treatments, certain moisturizing and hydrating packs and collagen masks that help filling out any lines, pits, scars, etc. temporarily.
Let us quickly summarize the little flaws, which might dwindle a bride's level of confidence. Pigmentation, freckles, milia or 'pearly' white heads, warts or moles, darker skin shades around the thighs, hips, superfluous hair on the chin, face, breast, abdomen, acne scars, accident scars, thin lips, scanty eyebrows, etc. The darker skin shades of the general body and especially of the private areas such as the buttocks can be lightened by certain creams and the use of sunscreens of high SPF's. This should be over a period of atleast one month.
The moles and warts can be removed without scars in just one sitting, so don't worry! The superfluous hair can be removed by methods of thermolysis and blend. The scars can be lightened by certain peeling agents that lift off the top layers of the epidermis thus lightening them. Colour in the form of safe pigments can be blended in to sparse eyebrows. The milia can be permanently eliminated in just one sitting.
Thus, a bride today need not be anxious at all of any flaws in her skin. Given the time and a determination on her side to set things right she can step into the limelight, a very confident bride, radiating a fair, flawless complexion boasting of good health and good grooming.
