Flawless Skin
Rochelle asks,
I will be joining airlines very soon and my major issue is to gain flawless skin. I have got freckles on my nose and few pimples that keep coming on and off. It's little nerve wracking as I eat healthy and drink a lot of water and orange juice and I am completely off non-veg.
Dear Rochelle,
Freckles are a condition, which is usually genetic, hence unfortunately does not go 100%. We can help in lightening to a certain extent and it increases with sun exposure. Use a good sun block (SPF 30 or above) 3-4 times a day to avoid tanning. Chemical peels act by flaking off the dead layers of skin and thus helps in lightening. 4-6 sittings at an interval of 4-6 weeks will help in giving a lightening effect, but make sure a trained professional does it. Use skin lightening creams containing Vitamin C/Kojic acid /Hydroquinone at night.
Acne is a result of hyper-secretion of oil glands, which in turn is influenced by hormones, familial tendency. Consult a dermatologist to rule out this and who will put you on appropriate medication like antibiotics.
Home-made Scrub For Dry Skin
Kirandeep Kaur asks,
I have a dry skin. I am using Olay since a month. I have pores on my skin. Also, I am having acne problem. There is no glow on my skin. I have good diet but still no glow on face. I clean my face regularly with Olay Face Wash and then apply Olay moisturizer daily. Please suggest.
Dear Kirandeep Kaur,
For dry skin use a soap free face wash. For the body bath you can use a glycerine-based soap. Using a medicated deep moisturizing cream containing aloe-vera, squalene will help in reducing dryness of the skin. You can use moong dal scrub or oats with honey mixer once or twice a week. A strawberry scrub once a week would help your skin to glow.
Acne is a result of hyperactive oil glands, which in turn is influenced by hormones. In PCOD, male hormone becomes dominant which suppresses the effect of female hormone. Consult a dermatologist to rule out this.
