Bond Over Beauty

Bond Over Beauty Bet you've never thought of celebrating your beauty together... however, given that men nowadays are as beauty conscious as women, why not?

Does that come across as a weird idea? To bond over beauty?

Well - if you think of it, beauty and vanity used to be associated with women. A step further, a lady's beauty regimen was the last thing she was advised to share with her man. For whatever would he think and say, if he saw her unkempt or knew that she wasn't a 'natural'!?

No - your man must always see you at your best. And thus, beauty became more and more a woman's domain. But no longer. Today, men appreciate and celebrate beauty to the extent that many feel no qualms in indulging themselves in a beauty regimen.

His & Hers - No longer
Then, given that you are as it is hard-pressed for time to connect with each other, why not earmark time to bond over a few beauty-cum-health treatments you can give each other or do together at home, with natural products available in your kitchen cupboards to boot? And no, we're not suggesting ickier treatments like waxing or threading! And you never know - this may just inspire you to bond in other ways too...

Massage: It's not only good for your beauty but also your health. And giving each other a massage will save you a pretty penny too! Invest in a bottle of olive oil, and then take your pick from a back, body or head massage.

Bath: Soaking up bath salts is restful and invigorating. Then why indulge alone? Pep up the occasion by arranging some side-drinks and snacks! May we suggest strawberries?

Pedicure: Well - even if you don't actually give each other pedicures, how about soaking your tired feet in hot salty water at the end of a busy day. Playing a little footsie in the bucket will also do both of you no harm!

Manicure: No, we're not suggesting a full-blown manicure, just a treat for worn out hands. Warm a mug of milk in the microwave for 30 seconds (until warm, not boiling) and together soak your hands in it for five to ten minutes to strengthen your nails and hydrate stressed skin.

Exfoliate: Skin needs to be regularly exfoliated if it is to look shiny and smooth. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells - think of it as giving your skin a scrub. Instead of buying readymade exfoliation products, try either of these home-made recipes - mix two heaped tablespoons of oatmeal (finely ground oats) with two teaspoons each of brown sugar and rock salt, and then with a bit of olive oil to make a paste OR peel and core an apple and mash it up into a paste, then stir in a cup of sugar. Now use the mixture on each other. Gently rub it onto the skin in circular motions using your fingertips. When you're both done, take a shower.

Face treatment: If you commute on a daily basis in trains or buses, your face must feel irritated by the end of the day or week. Use any of these mixes as a face pack. Mash a ripe banana with enough runny honey to make it into a pulp OR use plain yoghurt OR mash up a ripe, very soft tomato OR make chamomile tea and apply it with the help of cotton. Apply the paste of your choice generously to both your faces. And don't forget to put cucumber slices, straight from the fridge on your eyes. Then lie down on your bed looking at the ceiling (naturally, thanks to the cucumbers) and hold hands. While your face soaks in the goodness of the natural remedies, just feel your partners hand in yours and enjoy your companionship.

We guarantee you will both be looking much better by the end of your bonding session!
