Style gurus predict jewellery trend 2007

Those who want to combine a traditional and modern look can try bold neck pieces with fancy textures. You can wear long chains with big pendants with formal dresses. For a cocktail party you can wear a thin white and yellow chain or a narrow single row diamond chain teemed with large Victorian earrings with pink or blue calchedony drops. And a broad bracelet in multicoloured stones will complete the look.
Bridal collection
Brides will lean towards traditional motifs, Indian craftsmanship, precious gems and diamonds to create heavy but wearable jewellery. "For weddings and related functions we will still continue to see the entire ensemble consisting of necklace, earrings, bracelets or bangles and rings. Some people may even go as far as to complete the set with amulets and maang tikkas . Ruby, emerald tourmaline and cabochons will make its place in the bridal trousseau this year as they have a contemporary look and are also cost effective," says Shobha Asar.
Manly moves
For men NOT spending on jewellery is out. Indian men need to learn to wear jewellery not just spend on watches or gizmos or cars. Men's accessories with jewellery add a touch of class. "With usual bracelets, buttons, tie-pins and cuff-links, leather strings with gold pendants will be hot for semi-formal or casual wear this year," says Rhea. And many are also wearing their wedding bands with panache!
Rhea's tips for making a fashion statement
- Wear a long chain on a low neckline for a bold look
- Wear multiple chains of varying lengths on collared dresses to look funky
- Wear a chain on a low back to make heads turn
- Wear a medium chain with big pendant on a scooped neck to look sensual.
- Wear a choker on a low neckline if your neck is slim.
- A broad bracelet or bangle can also be worn as main jewellery.
