Ear and now
Danglers sway the way
|
Now you can hum "Jhumka gira re " as you wear a chandelier or a dangler or a desi jhumka . Yes, they are back and are a rage this season! The danglers originated in the West and have gracefully travelled to the East. Recall what actresses of yesteryears Sadhana, Meena Kumari and Madhubala wore, and you will know where today's style statements have come from. Like all good things, for eg. short kurtas and churidaars , danglers too have made a come back to the fashion sceanrio. They are considered 'in' now and can be spotted in dozens in the cupboards of fashionable college goers, elite socialites and celeb trend setters.
Jewellery designer Shaheen Abbas says, "Indian women love to add a lot of drama to their daily life. The best part of danglers is that they can be 'seen' on your face. If they are teemed with the right outfit, they can transform your look and can make you stand out in the crowd. It also has the power to make or break an outfit. This dramatic quality makes them hugely popular among the Indian women."
Chandeliers add an extra oomph to your personality. Their ethnicity makes them more attractive. They are highly glamourous and are here to rule the fashion world for a long time. Almost all ramp shows of designers Manish Malhotra and Rocky S, feature these trendy jewels. Even the recent 'Lakme India Fashion Week' featured loads of them.
Though they are available in gold, silver and beads, the stone studded danglers are the most 'happening'. "Danglers come in different combinations, like colour stones, diamonds, etc. This range is very much in demand," says Mr Kiran Dixit, Marketing Manager of TBZ Jewellers. "It is also observed that from youngsters to people in their early 40s, everyone is opting for these earrings," he added. However, jhumkas have been associated with Indian weddings since time immemorial.
