Fruity hues for gals & vermillion for guys

 Temperatures have begun to soar and it's time to loosen up in fresh cottons, linens and anything that is just c-o-o-l. Well known designer Priyadarshini Rao in an exclusive to ShaadiTimes outlines summer trends for both men and women.
The clothes she makes are easy to wear and user friendly. These are lifestyle clothes keeping in mind the psyche of the wearer rather than the occasion. The fabrics are usually interesting and the cut and finish is clean and minimal. Also these are contemporary and follow international trends.
What's in?
Fashion is no longer determined by what's in or out. However keeping the season in mind, natural fabrics like soft cottons, washed linens and airy silks will be in. Silhouettes will skim the body and hems are between knee length to calf length.
The basic idea this summer, is that of fun and lightness. Both menswear and womenswear will follow this trend, alongwith a strong influence of sportswear.

Colour, style and fabric
My summer collection works on sorbet colours. These are fruity hues that are neither too bright or blinding. The fabrics I use this season will have a lot of muls, gauze and georgettes. The feel is feminine and most of the garments are cut on a bias. |
Gals wear
Skirts are a big favourite this summer. These can be paired with snug Tees or soft chiffon blouses. Drawstring pants and light washed denim jackets too will be big for this age group..
Kool kurtis
Kurtis will be strong with jeans, trousers etc. The kurtis I make, are different, because I work in linens, with light embellishments that are either sprayed or scattered all over versus the regular neck embroidery. I also sometimes cut them on a bias, and flute out the sleeves to give it an international look.

Menswear
Menswear will see a lot of fabric treatments on linen and cotton, like crushing, pleating, handwork etc. These will feature on short tunic and shirts. The classic 'Bush' shirt with linen drawstring pants is ideal for weekends and, holidays,etc.
Colours for those who wish to experiment. are indigo, coral, lime green and vermillion. However the sand, ecru, beige and whites will be always present. Fabrics are light linen gauze, mul and poplins.
