Reversing the Recession

Rahul Mishra Gave Recession A Fashionable Meaning With His Amazing Reversible Collection For Fall/Winter 2009 At Lakme Fashion Week.
He has won many awards and is now known as the ''Raja of Reversible Garments''. When Rahul Mishra dreams up a collection, each garment has many lives and uses and that is exactly what his collection for Fall/Winter 2009 at Lakme Fashion Week was. Titled ''Reversing the Recession'', Rahul gave his buyers value for money during these dire times by offering them two for the price of one. The garments were impeccably designed, finished and presented making a stunning impact.
Using his favourite Banares hand woven fabrics, which he loves to promote for his unique ensembles, Rahul proved that Indian fabrics are most aptly suited to western silhouettes. Remaining within the dress and coat segment, in colours like ivory, white, brown, burgundy, beige, black, red, silver and gold in silk and wool, the silhouette was slim without being body hugging.
As the models reversed 20 of the 29 garments on the ramp, a completely new design emerged without disturbing the fitting of the creation. The silhouettes were western with Indian sensibilities like the sari drape at the side of a cocktail dress or a curved swirling inset that resembled a sari pallav.
It is difficult to pick out pieces that were stunners, since the whole collection got a thunderous applause. Here was a line that was not only great to look at, but gave the modern Indian woman a new fashion dimension where she can dress without burning a hole in her pocket.
