Drama & Style: Woven In Fashion

Working with four dual colour stories and two dimensionally different textures, Rahul Reddy created a fantastic collection for Fall/Winter 2009 at Lakme Fashion Week.
Blending together woven and knits in a colour story of turquoise / mustard, grey / orange, brown / sea blue and khaki / sea green; the collection was geometrically cut and piped in a mix of colours and style.
The inspiration was the military and school uniforms look but Rahul's colour chart made the combination very feminine, practical and easy to wear and interesting to view.
Long sleeved knit dress with cardigan tied at the side showed two garments in an innovative manner; flapped skirts with knit blouses or cable knit sleeveless pencil skirts with silky shirts were great combinations.
Stitching woven and knits into one ensemble in tonal colours, Rahul showed that the two mediums can be designed in perfect harmony without any puckering or sagging. The cutaway khaki knit dress, the collared knit skirt, the geometric piped woven dress, the grey quilted sheath, the knit circular quilted skirt and cable knit bubble in brown will all be perfect sellers for the coming season.
Colour blocking for knit dresses, curved cuts with piping for skirts teamed with knitted skivvies and simple shirts all came together wonderfully to form one of the best collections of the week.
Rahul Reddy has given an haute fashion direction and meaning to the words weave and knit in style.
