Nachiket Barve: Bold Colors Rule The Ramp
|
One of the youngest designers to create a wave of interest and fashion fever is Nachiket Barve. An alumus of the world famous design school ENSAD in Paris, Nachiket has apprenticed with European elite of fashion - Celine, Michael Kors and Nicole Farhi. He says, "The label stands for the philosophy that the designer believes in, which is that of luxury expressed in a contemporary, fresh and innovative way."
The models sashayed down the ramp in dresses that flowed with gorgeous geometric patterns and bold strokes. The collection boasted of dresses which created a mild uproar among fashionistas due to their opulent jewel tones shades as vibrant as the deepest rays of the first blush of dawn. The dresses inspired lust inviting women to indulge in making the purchase.
The collection was flirty, yet romantic, light meshed with opulence bordering on the ornate with minimal use of decorative embellishments.
It was in their effortless whimsy, which left an indelible signature of genius. Barve managed to create this aura of ennui without indulging us too much with design. The cuts were simple bodice with high waist-lines. The lengths varied from the swinging mini classical above the knee to floor length evening ball gown dresses.
The collection also presented something for the modern urban woman, which was romantic, flirty, and fresh. The shift dresses popular in the sixties were updated in different opaque hues reminiscent of Picasso's paintings in deep purples, magentas, and bright yellows.
The show stopper was definitely a floor length Fleur de Passion in the deepest vermillion an artist could create which floated to an opaque pink. It was sophisticated and modern, ethereal and subdued.
One could certainly see the European influences in Barve's collection. Kudos to the designer for in his exceptional ability to mesh the best of both confluences of age old traditional Indian decorative craftsmanship with techniques of European masters.
The collection works for young and old, NRI and Indians. If you're planning a wedding or going to one you may want another look at the evening gowns definitely worth their value not only in style but also emotion.
