It's one of the most important days in your life and you need to dress well to meet your beau for the first time. Not only should you dress well but it's important that you dress in accordance to the venue. For example you wouldn't want to wear jeans and a tee to a formal restaurant.

Fashion guru Anita Dongre besides giving some interesting tips also designs a few outfits to wear for the memorable occasion.

Be minimalistic: less is more.
Don't over do it. Keep your overall style simple. Wear minimal jewellery. Remember it's only a date - not a wedding. So don't overdo either the make-up or the accessories.

Try mystery.
On the first date it's not a great idea to wear something very revealing. Let there be some suspense about you. If you are planning an evening out to a pub / disco / five star I suggest dark denim pants with a lacy tube top and a jacket with fur. It is nicer you keep the jacket on till the evening progresses. After which if you wish you may dispense with the jacket.

Go for glamour.
On your first date it's essential that you look dramatic and glamorous but not obscene. So how about a black georgette shirt with Swarovski crystals worn over bootleg trousers? The shirt is transparent enough to make you look glamorous but not vulgar. Never go in for low necks on your first date. No need to layer yourself with clothes either but just enough to look chic. This black shirt adds the right amount of sophistication and sensuality.

Ethnic chic.
If you are salwar-kameez person and you are planning an evening at the disco I have just the right thing for you. A black and white striped short kurta with a stole will not make you feel out of place. This can be worn both at a restaurant and a disco.

Anita adds a word of caution. The most important thing is that wear shoes that are comfortable. Do not wear shoes for the first time because if you haven't broken into them you may be uncomfortable. Do not wear very high heels for the first time as this may make your gait awkward. Also shampoo your hair that morning. Make-up is not that important but being clean is very important. And don't forget to smell good - so dab on your favorite perfume and go for the kill!
