These are very common questions. And the same set of queries is as important from the groom's point of view.
Not many grooms-to-be concentrate on planning their wedding outfits just as elaborately as the brides do and they really miss out on a lot of details. This summer and for that matter at any wedding, co-ordination between the male and the female outfits plays a very important role.
You must co-ordinate the styling as well as the colour keeping in mind the complete look as a couple. Taking it step by step:
You could plan your engagement outfit, which could be an Indo-Western styled suit comprising of a Bandh Gala jacket with pants and an inner vest in a contrast brocade. Colours could be midnight blue suit with a grey vest or a steel grey with deep vine vest depending finally on what suits your complexion type. At all times no matter what colours are in vogue, ultimately you should choose combinations that suit you and not wear the outfit only because it is in style.

For the wedding function shades of peach jamevar with touches of gold silver aari work or beiges and golds are more suitable than the traditional cream churidar kurta. Also an important accessory - The pagri - could be made interesting by using different fabrics like tie dyes, leheriyas or self woven brocades.

The Sangeet ceremony requires an Indian touch, so to make a style statement. Use pale shades of aqua, dull rose, mint or fawns with elegant Jaal work in Chikankari Kashmiri or Kashida embroideries. You could accessorize it with a traditional moti mala worn along with an antique pendant or a broach with encrusted jewels. You could match your mojris in raw silk and have the edges embroidered with similar embroidery to complete the look.
For the wedding reception you could have a formal look with the regular 3 piece suit but details of the tie as well as the shirt texture and accessories could make a lot of difference. For example shades of copper teamed with black look great for the evening. You could have self-diagonal woven lines in your shirt and wear square cufflinks to get a geometric look.
That does it with your wedding planning but as for a bridegroom trousseau you should concentrate on daily requirements of:
- Your Work Clothes: Cool comfortable shades of linen with clean cuts teamed
with neutral shades of trousers of greys, fawns and blacks.
- Evening Wear: Comprising of darker shades of blues, vines, coppers, black in shirts with a different range of fabrics i.e. silk based, viscose etc.
- Club Wear: Comprising of funky prints and boxy short shirts teamed with your regular brand jeans also should be a part of your wardrobe.
- Traditional Wear: Lastly a few pairs of the traditional Indian attire of the churidar kurtas, which could be interesting, blends of jutes, silks and linen in shades of pastels and creams for the morning and darker shades of vines and blacks for the evening.
- Accessories: Matching mojris, sleek evening leather shoes, regular Addidas slip-ons for the Sundays and your Nike Keds would complete your perfect wardrobe!
