Seema's Sky - Prakash Trivedi
Part 4

"Seema's Sky" is a translation of Prakash Trivedi's Gujrati novel "Seemanu Aakash". It has been specially translated by Ashok Dholabhai for shaaditimes. It is a love story and more.

Seema's Sky "Sam Goody" - the words suddenly struck Nikhil. There were 20 minutes to go before the show started. Why not make good use of the time. He did not understand much about music nor was he very interested. Buying a stereo was yet in the future. Yet hoping that he would definitely find something of Sam Goody in one of the world's largest record shops he stepped in for a look.

Glancing at the Western classical music, symphony, sonata, concerts opera and oratorio sections Nikhil came to the pop music section. Here there were records featuring the Beatles, Elvis and moderns like Dr. Hook and Kiss. He felt he was out of his depth here too and so went further into the shop where there was a large section devoted to jazz and country music. He continued further where his attention was drawn to a photograph of Mukesh. Here there were around 500 records - Indian film music, instrumental, bhajans, folk music, Gujarati, Bengali and South Indian languages too. While he was turning over records of Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan a hippie approached him asking him where "Malkauns" could be found. Nikhil expressed ignorance.

It suddenly struck Nikhil - why not purchase a couple of records for Seema. He could not make up his mind about which ones to buy. The clock made up his mind for him. There were only two to three minutes left for the show to begin. If he did not rush he would miss the 4 o'clock show too.

He quickly picked up two records featuring Ravi Shankar and Yehudi Menuhin. Without waiting for the records to be gift wrapped, he thrust them into a Sam Good plastic bag and rushed out. "I have heard of both these artistes. Hopefully Seema too must be familiar with their names and their work," he thought.
