Love never ages - Part II

« continued from Part - I

Love never ages - Part II Thinking hard, finally, Ansha came up with another plan. "Nirav, let's plant someone else as Shikha and Shekhar! Let them behave totally absurd, only then will they (Kalpana and Mithilesh) realise their mistakes."

Nirav looked at her with a doubt. "Wouldn't that be taking it a bit far?" Ansha convinced him that she would handle everything.

Next day, a couple of auditions were held at Ansha's theatre group. Nirav was also present. Finally after too much delay, the 'cast' was finalized.
That night, the duo, masquerading as Shikha and Shekhar fixed up a meeting at the same coffee shop where Mithilesh and Kalpana used to meet during their courtship days.

Mithilesh was waiting for Shikha at the coffee shop, when he saw Kalpana enter. She looked fresh than she had ever been in the past few years. The sight of her at the coffee shop brought a twist of nostalgia to his heart; but he squashed it saying that they were separating now and both were here to meet someone else. But that thought brought up a wave of jealousy. Before he could battle it, Kalpana had seen him and was walking towards him.

Up close she looked calmer. Mithilesh noticed she was still wearing her mangalsutra  and the ring he had given her when they had first met. He was touched and somehow the feeling of jealousy subsided.
"An appointment?" Kalpana asked lightly knowing the truth. Mithilesh nodded awkwardly.
Kalpana spent about half an hour with Shekhar, while Mithilesh's Shikha never turned up. He got up when he saw Kalpana leave.

"Want to drive back home together? We still live at the same place..."

Kalpana looked into his eyes and stood there speechless. And then followed him to the car.

"She didn't come?"
"Yes. How was the meeting?" he asked not wanting to know.
"Good...but there was something strange... strain... he was also a bit funny... did not seem like the one I used to chat with."
"Not everyone can have a connection that's for real online."

Kalpana remained quiet this time too. They had always maintained they had had a special connection, which was above everything.

"You are going to call Shikha?" She asked wanting a firm 'No' from him.

"No." Said Mithilesh firmly.

Kalpana let out a sigh. Mithilesh heard the sigh and looked at her. He saw tears in her eyes that she was trying to hide. It gave him courage to continue.

"I don't want to." He paused.

She knew what she wanted, but did not want to take initiative. She knew it just could not work that way.

Her silence gave Mithilesh heart. He continued..."I want you."

Not having faced hers and Mithilesh's emotions for years, it was unfamiliar for Kalpana to do so now.

"I want all those moments back, with both of us again. I want us, as we were just a few years back. Why is it difficult? Our love has not gone anywhere. It has just been pushed to the back of the cupboard and old things are allowed to pile on it. We surely can push away those things and find the love back again. We still have each other..."

Kalpana was in tears. Mithilesh opened his arms for her. "We still have each other Kalpana, tell me we do."
"Yes, we do..." she said before burying her head in his shoulders.

Next morning at the breakfast table Ansha and Nirav knew their ploy had worked. No one said a word but everyone's expressions were different today. The same as they looked years back when Bhabhi  had married and come into their lives. Nirav and Ansha started thinking about another plan in order to get money to pay the 'Shekhar' who had turned up and even the 'Shikha' who hadn't'. They knew she had played her role well too.

The End
