"Just like so many other, thousands of women!" Sujata thought.
"We are going to my brother's place today. It is his son's birthday!"

"Actually I was not feeling like going but then my bhabhi would get offended, so..."

"She is a professor!"
"Your bhabhi?"
"Yes, in Wilson college. You know it is..."
"At Chowpatty, I know "
"It's a very good college."
"I know. My husband studied there," Sujata said in a bored voice.
"Really? I studied there as well." The woman said. "I did my B.A. with Economics."
"That's nice!"
"In which year was your husband there?" the woman inquired.
"He graduated in 95" Sujata said and then added a little cruelly, "Much after your time!"
"Oh no, I too graduated in '95" the woman said enthusiastically.
"Oh" Sujata was taken aback.
"What's your husband's name?" the woman asked.
"Rohit"
"Rohit... Rohit Mehta?"
"Yes. Do you know him?"
"Oh yeah, I know him very well. We were in the same class."
"Oh"
"He will also remember me. Tell him you met Seema."
"Seema?" Sujata's mouth fell open.
"Yes. Seema Joshi"
Now Seema stared talking with more vigour, in a louder voice. Pieces of wafers and spittle flew from her mouth.
Sujata just stared at her. So this was Seema! The Venus of Wilson college...lovely Seema, who boys lusted after... this is the woman who made her feel inferior all these years.... This shapeless, loud, pitiable creature...
