When Casanova came calling...

"I don't like your friend." Maya told her husband.
Peter, who was engrossed in the morning newspaper, looked up with surprise.
"Why?" he asked.
"I just don't like the way he behaves." Maya put down her coffee cup with an obvious show of irritation and got up from the table. "I will be happy when he leaves."
"He is leaving tonight. But tell me, did he misbehave with you?" Peter asked in a surprised tone. Maya just shook her head and busied herself in some kitchen work.
Peter put aside his paper and looked worriedly at his wife. Was it possible that Ronit, who had a reputation of being the biggest and the most successful flirt in college, had acted fresh with Maya?
They were in college together. After finishing studies, Ronit had shifted to Delhi. But they kept in touch. And when last week, Ronit called up to say that he was coming to Bombay for a few days, Peter insisted that he stayed with him.
"But wouldn't it be inconvenient for your wife?" Ronit had asked hesitantly. To which Peter had replied with a laugh, "No. I have told her about your Casanova like reputation and she is curious, rather eager to meet you."
"Peter, I thought you were my friend." Ronit protested with mock horror, but ultimately agreed to stay with his friend, whose wife he had not yet met. When Peter got married, two years back, Ronit was in Germany.
"He was the most handsome boy on the campus. Girls flocked to him and the gentleman that he was; he bestowed attention and affection on all of them impartially. He considered it his holy duty to make every woman around him happy," Peter told Maya, when they sat for dinner on the first night of Ronit's arrival in Bombay.
"Please stop kidding." Ronit said in a slightly embarrassed voice.
"Why, have you stopped flirting?" Peter retorted and both of them started laughing. Maya had looked on with a smile on her face. She could believe all that Peter had told him about his friend. Ronit could have been the fabled Casanova reincarnated, alright. The man was not only devastatingly good looking, he also knew how to treat a woman. He made Maya feel like the most beautiful woman in the world who could also cook the most amazing food.
"You should learn something from your friend." Maya chided her husband that night, who cared for his wife, but hardly bothered to compliment her on anything. On hearing Maya's complaint, Peter laughed. His old friend had not yet lost his touch. The man could sweep any woman off her feet with his charm.
