Bollywood's Best Bridal Looks
Our Top 19 Fully Filmy Dulhans !
|
We all love Bollywood and Bollywood loves weddings. Brides and wedding bashes have a forever-filmy charm to them.
That's just why we've brought you some of the best-loved, Bollywood Bridal Looks this festive season. So you too can get inspired, ready to enthral and rake in the compliments when you style yourselves after any one of these gorgeous Bollywood dulhans - some from reel-life, others from real life - but all with a distinctively delicious filmy and fashionable touch to them!
Yes, haute couture and hot price tags non-withstanding (there are lehengas costing an affordable $300 and bridal Benarasi sarees starting at $450 that are exact replicas of the ones worn by Aishwarya in Devdas, Kajol in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Amrita Rao in Vivaah ), the latest in bridal look merges Bollywood and the world of high fashion alike with events like HDIL Couture Week and Bollywood 'first family' weddings.
Movies like Devdas, Bunty Aur Babli , J.P. Dutta's Umrao Jaan (both Aishwarya starrers with ornamental sets and costumes) and earlier Bollywood films such as Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Dilwaley Dulhaniya Le Jayengay, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam have provided inspiration for many Bollywood styled mandaps at South Asian and Western weddings for couples with a yen for anything Bollywood.
In fact, entire lines of jewellery and bridal lehengas have been designed after the ones worn by stars like Rani Mukherjee, Katrina Kaif and Madhuri Dixit in their hit films where they've played brides.
Our Hot Haute Bridal Looks:
- Leggy Priyanka Chopra's bare-back bridal choli and silky, flowing ghagra that is clearly for the gym-addicted dulhan is a sure-fire winner. A classic Ritu Kumar outfit, which will make any bride, feel like a million bucks.
Ritu Kumar manages to give Priyanka Chopra a makeover from her sultry siren on-screen look to a demure, romantic and innocently seductive one on the ramp for the HDIL India Couture Week in a gorgeous bright green and orange creation, superbly cut to complements her willowy figure to the fullest: a great trousseau addition for the curvaceous Indian bride.
- Shilpa Shetty's mid-riff revealing pure red-addiction designed by Tarun Tahiliani. The hot and sultry Shilpa Shetty was his showstopper at the same show: the regal splendour of her red-gold brocade and zardozi lehenga studded with semi-precious stones and off-set by an ornate, bejewelled neckpiece won over many others designs on the ramp through the week-long event as it fused traditional embroidery techniques and fabrics with contemporary cuts and sensual style.
- Amisha Patel's mood makeover for Verve's cover, signifying the runaway bride (albeit, in style - with LV luggage essentials to boot!) is another look we love.
We liked her hot, 'come-hither' look for Maxim and other glam-mags as well as the sizzling number she did on Saif Ali Khan in Thoda Pyaar, Thoda Magic (lazy lamhe, remember?). But they don't really stand a chance against this neat fashion coup she (and the stylists at Vogue) pulled off with aplomb. The photo-shoot covers her in a range of emotions that range from coy to pensive to eager and dreamy bride, but the designer luggage complementing her many bridal moods and outfits tends to give an impression of a runaway bride (or at least one with intentions of being one...)
