No rasam, rice and papadam
Sudha Chandran is on a diet

Sudha has redefined the terms grit and determination. The actress cum danseuse has worked her way to success by the sheer dint of hard work. Sudha is currently a style icon on TV and her fans loved her very different look in the long running serial Kahiin Kisi Roz. Sudha's idea of a lazy Sunday is just sleeping and watching TV. On a weight reducing program, the actress is currently off-rice.

Sudha Chandran Over to her for her take on food and much more...
"Food is needed just to keep alive and healthy. It is not everything in life. For me it holds little value than this. I am therefore very particular about it. I eat only home-cooked food and am a strict vegetarian. I never ever have junk food and no ice creams and chocolates for me either."

Sudha's day begins with a cup of filter coffee.
"What else?" she laughs, "being a South Indian it has to be this. This is my energizer, almost like a fuel for the day. This is followed with seasonal fruits and occasionally I opt for idlis or dosas."
She always carries her lunch with her as she never ever has studio meals. It is always rotis and subji. Around 5.30 pm she has some more fruits or a salad and dinner is at home which is much the same as lunch. During summer she always has some chaas (butter milk).

I never experiment with food as I don't like changes.
Of late I have given up rice and this is a great sacrifice for any South Indian. So my all-time favourite meal of rasam rice and papadam is a complete no-no. But I love Gujarati food and in fact I always joke that the day I retire I will hire a Gujarati cook and binge on all the Gujarati delicacies."
"Until my marriage I never enjoyed sweets but after marrying a Punjabi I have developed a sweet tooth and occasionally succumb to coconut barfi and jalebis (the South Indian type). The sad thing is that my husband does not relish South Indian style food as it has too much coconut in it and hence food at home is of the North Indian style but not too rich."

She rarely ever eats out except of course when she is travelling.
On a rare occasion when she does go out for a meal she loves the food at Green House in Vile Parle and The Class (for thali) at Juhu.
Sudha has recently joined a health club and works out daily at 6 am. She also makes it a point to go in for a facial every month and oils her hair regularly as all the exposure to harsh lights and colour highlights have begun to damage her hair.

I can watch any SRK film
Talking of a lazy Sunday, Sudha says, "I have no spare time on a Sunday as I have opened 3 branches of my dance classes where I teach on Sundays. But to me an ideal holiday would be spent sleeping or watching a Shahrukh Khan movie. I can watch any SRK film however good or bad umpteen number of times, as I am his biggest fan. And yes, you've guessed right my favourite room at home is my bedroom and the wardrobe in it. I just love taking out all my clothes, neatly folding them and rearranging them. I am a very neat person and everything at home has to have a proper place."
