Celebs Speak About Their Diwali Memories
And How They Decorate Their Homes On Diwali?

Diwali is a time when we refurbish our houses, go shopping for new things, and decorate the house with torans, lamps and lights. We all have our moments. Some become those we treasure. What Diwali memories bring our celebrities to life?

Sabyasachi Mukherjee (Designer): (Laughs) well, we designers are too busy decorating other people's bodies to decorate anything else! Plus, I am a bachelor and live alone in Calcutta.

Sweta Keswani Sweta Keswani (Television Actor): Normally we do rangoli, diyas, mithai and chocolates. But no crackers. I like docile crackers.

Lara Dutta: The first Diwali after winning Miss Universe is very special because even though I was out of the country I was with my family and dear ones.

Ritesh Deshmukh: The most memorable Diwali was when I was in New York and my family had flown in to surprise and we celebrated the festival of lights in a foreign land. There were Maharashtrian sweets and delicacies, which my mother made. It was amazing.

Ashish Choudhury: My first Diwali after my marriage was very special. My wife and family were present and we had a blast.

Bipasha Basu: The first Diwali I spent with my family after winning the Gladrags contest is very special to me because I knew all my dreams were going to come true.

Raghu Rai (Noted Photographer): I am not deeply connected with Diwali. Each day has to be Diwali. Life should be lived in a way that is alive and meaningful. Each day you bring something new in the house, you buy new lights. That is Diwali.

Shibani Kashyap (Singer): One memorable Diwali is once when I was shooting in Cochin. In the south they don't have a concept of Diwali like people in the north. I did attend a puja but after that we went for a boat ride and all. There were no crackers to be heard, and I honestly don't think they even sell crackers there! I enjoyed myself and was happy that it was the most unconventional Diwali I have ever celebrated in peace and quiet.

Vikas Sethi Vikas Sethi (Television Actor): I was in the 10th and we were celebrating Diwali. I am very scared of anaars or any crackers and I was just sitting. When this particular anaar refused to burn, I took up the challenge and told everyone I would do it. The moment I picked it up, it blasted in my hand. I still have a mark in my hand.

Sharadh Jagtiani (Actor, Model): My best Diwali dates back to a Diwali party I celebrated three years back with my friends from the same industry in Mumbai. We have a Diwali party every year. I believe celebration is an essence of life. Diwali is all about celebrating joy and being together.

Deepankar De (Bengali Actor): Not much. What do you call the Hindu thing - we do an alpana. We light 14 lamps in memory of the previous 14 generations so that they can go seek a better path. This is according to Hindu Shastra.

Nondon Bagchi (Foodie, Musician): Well, I'm a single person, living alone. I'm not really a ritualistic person. Just do a few candles in the balcony and a few diyas in front of the door when I'm home. I'll do the same.
