Ravi in a face-to-face interview with Shaaditimes.
Do you feel Luck is your comeback movie in Hindi cinema?
Yes. I have done Bhojpuri movies and working in Hindi films was always on my priority list. It's not that I haven't worked for Hindi movies but I wasn't given the opportunity to portray myself better. Luck has proven a fresh start for me. I am back as a lead actor with this movie.
Can you describe your character in this movie?
I am playing a psychopath name Raghav who is Mosa's (Sanjay Dutta) right-hand man. He lives life on the edge. He is crazy about Ayesha (Shruti Hassan) for whom he can die and kill anyone anytime.
Was it tough playing Raghav?
Playing a psychologically unfit character was a complicated task. I was asked to loose 15 kilos and shorten my hair.
Did you perform stunts in this movie?
Not only me, but the entire cast has done stunts. We had to jump from thousand feet in the sky. We shot under water with sharks, ran on the burning train. I have face death for the first time. I was not only nervous but sacred too; only "LUCK" saved my life.
How was your overall experience with this movie?
Very good. I enjoyed working with my cast. We use to have fun and make merry at night. Next morning we all reached the set by 6 a.m. No one had the inflated ego of being a star.
How was your experience working with director Soham Shah?
Fantastic! He is so young but has woven actors from 3 generations. I must admit that the script is beautifully written and the dialogues are intricate but very contextual.
What are your next projects?
I am working with Mani Ratnam's "Ravan", where I am playing Abhishek's brother - Mangal. Apart from that I have worked in Suniel Shetty's movie Loot that is almost completed. The movie was shot in Bangkok. After my performance in Welcome To Sajjanpur, Shyam Benegal has offered me the role of a road engineer for his next venture "Well Done Abba". I will also be working with T.P. Aggarwal for his movie "Ghar Ka Na Ghat Ka".
Will Ravi bid farewell to Bhojpuri movies?
Never! What ever I am is because of Bhojpuri movies and I am proud of being a leading Bhojpuri actor. My talent has been sharpened and recognized by Bhojpuri movies. I have received many National awards for my performances. I will never turn away from Bhojpuri movies. In the past six years I have received 75 awards and I am proud of that. I will be working for both genres - Hindi as well as Bhojpuri.
