Love favours the brave

Priyanshu ChatterjeeLike his debut role in Tum Bin , his personal life too, has been a roller coaster ride as far as relationships are concerned. But Priyanshu Chatterjee, made of sterner stuff, is not the one to give in.

Priyanshu Chatterjee became an instant hit with Tum Bin , but his married life with Malini Sharma (of Raaz  fame) faced a setback for some reasons and they decided to part ways. In an exclusive chat with ShaadiTimes, he comes across as a mature individual who has learnt the lessons of life well, someone who has retained a rock solid faith in love and marriage.

Successful debut
Priyanshu's career started blooming after his debut film. He says, "I have been getting interesting roles in films like Tum Bin, Dil Ka Rishta, Pinjar, Filmstar, Julie  and Mumkin . It's been a great ride so far as I have been getting very challenging roles with very real characters. It has been a painful and pleasurable experience at the same time. Painful, because the characters I played were really difficult to enact, and pleasurable, because the satisfaction I got was immense. People have started accepting me as an actor. I feel lucky because the audience as well as the film makers have shown a liking for me."

Film star
"My next release is Film Star . I am playing a character of a drunkard lawyer - someone who indulges in alcohol and has completely lost it, who doesn't want to come back to good life. In real life, I have come across such people in my close contact and I know that this is so because there is some inner problem that they don't want to deal with. This film gives a very powerful message in that you can come back to leading a normal life, that you can come back to your family... you don't have to stay stuck in a rut."

Cherish your love
Priyanshu is a lot concerned about people who go through trauma in their personal lives. He takes the opportunity to spread his message through ShaadiTimes. "My message to people dealing with such problems is that if there is a will there is a way. If you want to be with someone you have to mend your ways. Once you lose someone then that the person is lost forever. It is better to keep good ties with people who really care for you."

Enjoy responsibility
"Love to me means honesty... it means caring for someone and relationship implies responsibility. If we are in a relationship with someone we love then we better be responsible and care for the person. There is no need to run away from responsibility. It is just a long word but you can enjoy it as well. You just have to take the initiative. Once you take the first step you will start loving it."

First crush
"My first crush was when I was in school. It never materialised into anything but it was a beautiful feeling that will stay with me forever. First crush is like having the first sip of tea in the morning... it is like first breath of air. Any 'first' has a certain novelty to it and some purity to it. That feeling can't be taken away."

He shares one such feeling. "I was a reasonably good student in school. But school was such a drag to get up and go. But the only saving grace was the presence of two pretty girls both coincidentally called Preeti. I had a crush on both of them at the same time. Both of them were very pretty and extremely intelligent... they were toppers in our class. One would come first and the other would rank second. It was magical to watch the beautiful girls. Going to school was never drudgery because of them and I used to eagerly wait for school. This went on for three-four years."

"I believe it is possible to be in love with two people at the same time. We cannot be with both at the same time though. That will be too much. You will have to be a billionaire not doing anything at all, only then can you devote time to two women! Moreover, they too have to be from some other planet otherwise they won't allow this. It is a question of commitment and priorities. It is too much bother to even keep one relationship alive; I don't know how anyone can keep two working fine simultaneously."
