Preity Zinta - 'I personally would not go in for a live-in relationship!'
On being dragged 'into crime' in another sense with the Bharat Shah affair in 2001 and the Salman Khan imbroglio now:
"Back in 2001, all I was thinking about was that everything around was so corrupt. I stood up for what I thought and was completely frank and honest. But the cops are doing a good job despite their problems. As for Salman Khan, I think that he is the media's favourite punching bag, and it is very difficult to believe that someone so nice should have said something nasty about me, to be very honest."
On journalism and media today:
"We have reached a saturation point in commercial and trivial journalism. It's ridiculous to say that stars sell as headlines when the country has so many major problems happening. Earlier there were separate sections for gossip items, today it has become a part of news!"
On the recent crank calls:
"In the US, you cannot get away with such things. Here they know that if even you go to court it will take ten years. But I have gone to court, and our judicial system needs to tighten up."
On her final stand on Kareena Kapoor:
"I have always been honest about talking about something that bothers me, but now I think that I was immature in her respect. I think that I am getting to like Kareena more as I keep meeting her around."
On being so opinionated:
"If you have a brain, you have an opinion!"
On her recent cleanliness drive in Mumbai:
"I thought that we should do our bit. The entire industry supported me, and Shah Rukh Khan joined me in the first chapter of this move. As a star, I automatically get a platform and a market and I think that I should use it. After Mumbai's July 26 date with disaster, diseases can spread so easily if there is no cleanliness around. We shoot abroad and when we come home we find so much dirt. And people believe that all we stars can do is live in our air-conditioned luxury and talk big things about being appalled about dirt and not do anything ourselves!
